Most of us tend to see energy bars and assume that they are only used by people who spend all day in the gym, or people who are too busy to eat a decent meal or sleep a good amount. While this is a very common use for them because of the way they work, there is much more to it than simply allowing you to push harder in the gym.
For us regular folk, using power bars and energy drinks can help us to not only stay awake throughout the day, but will keep us running efficiently and more comfortably between meals. If you’ve every been late for weok or for a meeting, and you don't have time to eat a full meal, or you feel like eating a full meal before you have to work or exercise will make you feel bloated or tired (remember that protein and fat will slow down your body’s digestion, and so will stay in tour stomach for longer), eating an energy bar thai is high in carbohydrates with very low to moderate traces of fat and protein, will help you maintain your energy and decrease your hunger level while at the same time allowing your body to absorb the nutrients as quickly as possible.
What happens when you have a high intake of carbohydrates is that your muscles are given more energy to work with, so you will feel faster and stronger without the added fat and protein weighing you down (provided you actually do something to burn through that energy though - eating a power bar while sitting on your couch is only going to pack on the calories as wasted energy, so make sure you only use it when you know you're going to need that extra energy.
It should also be noted however, that taking power bars and energy drinks is really only supposed to be supplemental, so if you notice that you’re starting to eat more power bars than you’re having regular, balanced meals, try cutting down and start taking in some natural energy from vegetables and balanced meals that include protein, carbs and healthy fats in moderate portions. If you eat right for a while, you may find your body naturally increasing its energy levels anyway, meaning that you need for power bars will be infrequent; but boy, when you have one, you will have as much energy as you need for any possible activity.
